It's been a goal of mine to support local business in the Las Vegas area, so Tre and I checked out Mix n Mac. A restaurant that has different kinds of macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, and baked goods. I was really hopeful and excited about this place. Tre's dialysis comes with diet restrictions that include (but aren't limited to) dairy. I have been craving macaroni and cheese for about three months. Here, I thought I would be able to have what I wanted, and Tre could get a sandwich.
There was no one inside when we walked in. A lot of the pictures on the wall were crooked, which was not nice to look at. No working said hello or made us feel welcome. When we decided to order, Tre wanted to get a brisket sandwich. We were rudely informed that they didn't have the food to make the sandwich, or any other sandwich. So, Tre didn't get to order.
At this point, I didn't want to eat here anymore, because I didn't want to eat by myself. But, we also didn't want to be awkward. I ordered the pizza mac n cheese, which consisted of cheese, ground beef, bacon, and pepperoni.
The actual pasta was a bit mushy, like they cooked it in water for a bit too long, the pepperoni was only on the top, which was a disappointment. I weigh about 120, but I kept feeling like my chair was going to break. There were no booths, and only one rickety baby chair that didn't even go as high as the table. Tre was stuck holding Anakin. What if I went there alone?
The cashier kept giving us dirty looks while I was eating. I didn't understand why. Another couple came in after us and I understood why he kept looking at us like that. He's mean! He was very rude to the new people as well. I believe they tried to use a groupon deal and the cashier just seemed very aggravated.
Out of five stars, I'm going to give this place two and a half. The "create your own" aspect of the restaurant is original. I almost wish I did that instead of picking one that was already on the menu. It's a unique thing I won't get to experience because I will NOT be back. The next time I want macaroni and cheese, I'm going a few doors down to Panera Bread!
