I'm breaking up with Forever 21.

(x)
To me, shopping at Forever 21 is like crack. It's a quick high shopping there, but after awhile, everything will fall apart and you question every choice you've made in life. The last straw for me was sequin hot pants that I ordered online. I have worn these once, they are already ruined.
At first, I wasn't very upset. I mean they were only twelve dollars, right?
Wrong.

How many tops have lost their shape after being washed once?
How many times have I purchased something that I knew was poorly made, but purchased it any way?
How many "skinny" jeans have bunched up at the knee?
How many times have I purchased something that I knew was a cheap imitation of high fashion?
How many nail polishes have I purchased that never got used because the brush broke off upon opening?
How many times have I purchased something from a company I knew were religious bullies?

How many lotions have given me breakout after break out, but I continued purchasing them?
How many times have I worn my "Legalize LA" shirt, but still purchased items at a company I knew darn well treated immigrant workers horribly?

How many "tribal"shirts will it take for me to realize that this is not the place I need to be shopping at?

I can say to myself, "Well, it's only twelve dollars." But that would make me a hypocrite. I can say this repeatedly  to myself, but that doesn't make it ok. I think I am addicted to Forever 21! There's like an angel (style) and a devil (fast fashion) on my shoulders and I am finally making the decision to start shopping at other places. I hope they give me lasting style, rather than looking like a mall rat. So F21, I just can't do this any more. I just can't keep poisoning my wardrobe full of total crap and justifying it as "Only twelve dollars."

Where do you like to shop? I'm looking for quality, not quantity. I am terribly guilty of having a closet full of nothing to wear.
